The Federal Aviation Administration has approved Boeing's plans for new safety tests that could get its troubled 787 Dreamliner back in the air as early as this spring.
The long-term nature of defense contracts shields the industry from short-term sequester disruptions in areas of the country that depend on military spending, such as St. Louis.
Boeing remains upbeat about the Dreamliner's future and is confident that despite the safety scares, airlines won't be cancelling future orders for the aircraft.
