Volunteers are making masks to help with COVID-19 shortages. Who will use them?
Some hospitals are accepting homemade face masks, but they may have limited uses.
Oluwatosin Fagbuyi, a graduate student at Tennessee State University, has been helping keep the school’s 3D printers running, molding headbands as part of a face shield for medical workers.

Although college campuses are closed, some schools in Tennessee have kept 3D printers humming to make face shields for health workers in the absence of other protective gear. Volunteers around the country are also sewing face masks. Although these masks may not be hospital grade, they could help preserve surgical masks for those who really need them.
