California seniors are opting to live together as a way to cut housing costs

As California’s seniors grapple with finding affordable housing options, some are choosing to move in together. The number of elderly people aged 65 and older living with non-relatives in the state is growing, according to census data.
Some seniors say taking on a roommate goes a long way toward cutting costs and staving off loneliness, and there are now several organizations in the state offering to help seniors find roommates. Los Angeles County is promoting the idea to reduce senior homelessness.
