The Federal Aviation Administration has approved Southwest Airlines’ plan to start flying to Hawaii. In a January earnings call, Southwest’s chief executive Gary Kelly said he expected up to half of the airline’s anticipated capacity growth in 2019 to come from new Hawaii routes. The flights will start in small Californian airports, possibly as soon as this month.
