What does this mean for the overall nonprofit sector, which is made up of small groups, too?

Fewer donors are responsible for more charitable giving than ever before, according to a new report from the Institute for Policy Studies. The good news is that those mega-donors are helping charitable giving grow at a healthy rate. The bad news, according to the report’s authors, is that mega-donors make charity increasingly undemocratic and concentrate philanthropy in sectors that matter most to them, not necessarily the most worthy.
