Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will visit Pearl Harbor with President Barack Obama tomorrow, about 75 years after Japan’s attack on the U.S. naval base. The visit to the World War II memorial has important symbolic value. But it also marks Abe’s latest attempt to ensure Japan’s status on the international stage and solidify the country’s role as an important trade partner with the U.S.
