Everyone wants the Apple taxes that Apple doesn’t want to pay

An EU dispute over Ireland’s tax treatment of Apple is really about who gets Apple’s taxes.

Apple filed an appeal today against a European Union decision to force the company to pay up to $14.5 billion in back taxes. The EU had accused Ireland of working out a sweetheart deal with Apple to pay hardly any taxes there. The EU says the deal is illegal and unfair, but Ireland is siding with Apple and filed its own appeal.
