Qualcomm buys NXP, moves into cars and the internet of things

At $39 billion, it's the biggest semiconductor deal ever.

Qualcomm’s acquisition of NXP for $39 billion is the biggest semiconductor deal ever done. The deal comes as the market for PCs and mobile phones has cooled, and chipmakers look to get their products into cars.
