The Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar has become a sought after tourist destination. It has unspoiled nature, ancient temples — and a new democratically elected government.

It’s also a country in transition, moving away from isolation and into the international business world.

David Bockino, a professor of communications at Elon University in North Carolina, has a new book called “Greetings From Myanmar: Exploring the Price of Progress in One of the last Countries on Earth to Open for Business.”

Kai Ryssdal spoke with Bockino about what opportunities — and challenges — lie ahead for Myanmar.
