If you’re in the market for a new microwave this Labor Day, you’re in luck. Retailers are putting appliances on sale, figuring students heading to college will need them. 

WalletHub has put together a list of Labor Day deals. For things like…

“Appliances like dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators,” said Jill Gonzalez, an analyst for WalletHub. “And then an outlier here is strollers.”

Strollers?  Yeah – the birth rate spikes in August. Because of holiday babies.

And if you need a new car for your growing family, you’re also in luck. Car sales have been weak, so dealers might be willing to deal.

“They’ll have to get rid of some of their inventory because August was rather weak and they’re going to use Labor Day as a starting point to do that,” said Chris Christopher, director of consumer economics at IHS Global Insight.

Whatever you do, don’t shop for clothes or jewelry today. Those things don’t go on sale until Black Friday.
