Gentrification in Brooklyn
We find out more about WNYC’s ‘There Goes the Neighborhood,’ a new podcast that talks about how the real estate market shakes up an established neighborhood.
Developers everywhere are constantly looking for deals that will allow them to “revitalize” different neighborhoods, and make a profit in the process. With those valuations, come business opportunities in parts of the city that haven’t seen the housing spike yet and when they do, it’s typically at the expense of people who have lived there for generations.
That’s the subject of a new podcast series from WNYC called There Goes the Neighborhood, focusing on gentrification in Brooklyn and the waves of money rolling into the real estate market. We talk to the podcast’s host Kai Wright, who is an editor at The Nation.
