The Carlyle Group's co-CEO finds investing in America's heritage deeply patriotic.

The co-CEO of the The Carlyle Group, one of the top private equity firms in the country, sees restoring a presidential monument as an important part if being American.

The billionaire investor, David Rubenstein, has made a name for himself in a lot of ways. Being rich is one, buying a copy of the Magna Carta — yes, that Magna Carta — is another. A month or so ago, he pitched in a few spare million dollars to restore the Lincoln Memorial, something Rubenstein called “patriotic philanthropy.”
