Brussels’ economy is rebounding after terrorist attacks

BBC reporter Dan Johnson says restaurants and bars in the Belgian capital sit empty.

Marketplace host Lizzie O’Leary talked to BBC reporter Dan Johnson in Brussels about how residents in the Belgian capital are returning to everyday life, a week after terrorist attacks killed 35 people.

Since then, some residents have held demonstrations, while others spent their time in their homes. Restaurants and bars have seen a decrease in business.

“I think people really have spent this weekend wanting to be home with their families, staying close to those they love,” Johnson said. “There really haven’t been people out on the streets at all.”
