Spotlight on Michigan
Here are the numbers we're watching and reading for Tuesday.
Tuesday means more primaries, and more delegates up for grabs. Here are some need-to-know numbers to end your day.
Michigan is a big focus, with its 206 delegates up for grabs. It’s also interesting from an economic standpoint — the state became a symbol of economic duress in the wake of the Great Recession.
So how is the local economy recovering? Pretty well, by some estimates. About 450,000 jobs have reportedly been added since 2010, and car companies like GM, Ford and Chrysler have been ramping up production. Still, the recovery is uneven, with areas of Detroit and Flint still in desperate need of financial rescue.
Speaking of the presidential election, even the restaurant review site Yelp couldn’t help but enter the fray. With its latest upgrade to its app, the company snuck in the description: ““Our latest release easily trumps our old version, it’s usable no matter how small your hands are!” As Politico writes, it’s an obvious dig at presidential candidate Donald Trump, who found himself defending the size of his hands at a recent GOP debate. For his part, Trump has defended himself, pointing to his ability to hit a golfball 285 yards. He defended other parts of his body, too, but you and I are better than discussing all that.
