What happens when you Google "Apple"

Here are the numbers we're reading and watching for Friday.

$1 billion

That’s reportedly how much Google paid Apple in 2014 to keep its search bar on the iPhone. As reported by Bloomberg, the agreement also guarantees Apple a share of profits generated by Google through its search engine. The revenue share reportedly reached 34 percent at its highest.

$100 million dollars

That’s how much African-American movie goers spent in theaters on 2013. A diversity report from UCLA also found that in 2015, films with diverse casts had the highest median global box office receipts. Yet the Oscars — arguably the industry’s most prestigious awards — have struggled to reflect diversity in films, and is currently facing harsh criticism online. But aside from big stars, African-American  stuntmen and women also experience difficulty in gaining recognition, an issue the Black Stuntmen’s Association (BSA) has been working on since the 1960s.

24.5

That’s the percentage of 16-year-olds that had a drivers’ license in 2014. As reported in The Atlantic, new report from the University of Michigan finds a striking overall decline in possession of drivers’ licenses. Among the reasons? Ride sharing services like Uber have eliminated some of the need to own a car.
