Worth its weight in golden donuts

Here are the numbers we're reading and watching for Friday.

292,000

That’s how many jobs were added in December, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5 percent. Looking ahead to 2016, some economists are wondering if wage growth will continue enough to attractive inactive workers back to the workforce.

60,000

That’s how many people have pre-ordered Lily, the drone designed to follow you around and automatically take pictures. That translates to $34 million in sales. As Business Insider writes, the drone syncs up with a tracker that the user can keep in their pocket or wear on their wrist, allowing it to effortlessly track and record its owner.

$300 billion

That’s about how much money is in a transportation construction bill signed into law by President Barack Obama. That’s a relief to state-level transportation officials in places like Georgia, where a list of to-do projects are getting under way now that federal funding is guaranteed.

$100

That’s how much you’ll pay for a gold-topped donut from a Brooklyn restaurant called The Manila Social Club. As United Press International writes, the delicacy is dusted with edible gold flakes and gold dust. You might want to hurry, though: they only have about five dozen to sell.
