FedEx meteorologists get your packages home on time

A million holiday parcels are shipped a night, guided by the weather forecasters.

FedEx has a giant hub in Memphis where it ships out a million packages a night this time of year, an operation that makes Memphis the busiest airport in the world after dark. It’s just a slice of a global and logistically mind-boggling system, whose smooth running is arguably dependent on 15 people — the meteorologists. Kory Gempler and Erik Proseus tell us what the job is like.
