What is economics? It’s not the stock market; not a way to get rich quick. Economics is the study of people and the choices they make about how to use their time and resources.

In addition to my reporting for Marketplace this year, I’ve been working on Crash Course Economics, an online video series covering the basics of econ. I co-host the series with Jacob Clifford, a very awesome Advanced Placement economics teacher.

In this first episode, we explore the basics of economics. And we get heckled by the Muppets. I hope you like it.

Over the course of the year, we’re planning to cover microeconomics and macroeconomics, and get into some specific subjects like game theory and the economics of happiness. 

I wish I could take all the credit for these, but they are the effort of a large and talented team.
