Men get to talk turkey, courtesy of Butterball

Every year, tens of thousands of Americans call in to a toll-free number to get help in cooking holiday dinners. In the past, all of the turkey experts have been women. Not anymore.

This final note, on the way out today.

For decades now, Butterball has had what it calls the “Turkey Talk-Line.” It’s a toll-free number that’s up and running in November and December.

Every year, tens of thousands of Americans call in to talk to one of 50 “professionally trained, college-educated home economists and nutritionists.” All of whom have been women.

This year, that’ll change. It’s hiring its first male spokesman.

The only requirement: “You have to want to help people.”
