Tess Vigeland: Our little blue plastic friend is heading to New York City! Some background: I. Love. Handwritten letters. Old school correspondence will always get my attention.

So when I got one from Carol Belanger, with her piggy nomination, well, first I took a picture of it and tweeted it. Then we asked her to read it.

Carol Belanger: I would like to nominate Victoria Belanger for your Piggy Award. During a year for unemployment, between jobs, she paid all of her bills with the aid of unemployment and selling her few possessions, only sparingly dipping into savings. She never once came to us for a loan.

To save money when socializing with friends, she brought jello to their get-togethers. What started as a money-saving strategy, ended up as a published cookbook. Now employed, she is now building up her savings and her friends are still clamoring for her jello treats.

Sincerely, Carol Belanger, proud mother.

Well it sounds like she doesn’t need him, but of course Victoria gets a pig! Well done! Congrats on the new job, too. Piggy loves the city, so feel free to squire him around New York. Just maybe stay away from the Meatpacking District.
