The death of passwords

Can you remember your own eyeball?

That’s what researchers at IBM are predicting anyway. They say within the next five years, passwords will become obsolete. What will replace them? You.

From ZDnet:

The company wants to replace words and numbers with security based on your biological makeup, and create unique DNA based profiles that will serve as your ‘password’ for a variety of tasks. These could include going to an ATM, logging in to your computer, and perhaps going as far as signing in to individual online services like Facebook or Twitter.

Of course accessing an ATM machine with your eyeball is not at all creepy (look into my soul for money), and there’s absolutely no way a thug could take advantage of this technology. Addressing security concerns, IBM says how much DNA you give up will be up to you.
