It’s 2011. You’ve been hacked.

Sorry.

The hacking collective, Anonymous, gave Austin-based security company, Stratfor Global Intelligence Service, the gift that keeps giving. On Christmas Eve, Anonymous announced it had taken emails, client lists, and credit card information from Stratfor’s servers. Anonymous said it would use the credit cards to donate money to charity. According to the New York Times, Anonymous wanted to “embarrass Stratfor, which specializes in intelligence and security. The hackers said they were able to obtain the credit card details because, they said, Stratfor had failed to encrypt them.” The hacking group has released statements via Twitter promising a week’s worth of mischief. Happy New Year!
