To Android and beyond, the lawsuits pile up

Litigation escalates

If the Great Patent Wars were the Hundred Years’ War, I’d say we’re in about year 30. Blood has been spilled, it’s getting ugly and about to get uglier. To date, suits like Apple vs. HTC or Samsung vs. Apple or Microsoft vs. Android have all hovered in or around the smartphone arena. A new lawsuit filed late last week by British Telcom (BT), however, is throwing the book at Google. Not only is BT suing of copyright infringement over the Android Operating System, according to Business Insider, it’s suing for “Search, Maps, Music, Offers, Books, and the Google+ social network.”

Looks like BT is going with the “see what sticks” strategy. I’m surprised there’s no mention of Gmail or Docs. There’s a chance BT owns the idea of email and writing words on virtual paper, right?
