Carbon nanotubes are thinner than a strand of hair and are being tested to power extremely small motors. The BBC reports: “Carbon nanotubes have only recently been identified by scientists; they are ‘straws’ made only of atoms of carbon linked together in hexagons. They have remarkable physical properties – being more than 100 times stronger than steel.” Hexagons 100 times stronger than steel? I thought such strength was only reserved for parallelograms.
