A final note. The Girl Scouts says it’s seen a 55 percent rise in the number of Hispanic girls who’ve joined the group over the past decade. And today, it added one more Mexican-American to its ranks — as the new CEO of the leadership organization.
Anna Maria Chavez is moving up from the group’s Southwest Texas chapter. The organization says Hispanic girls account for around 12 percent of the nearly 2.3 million Girl Scouts.
