So this is kind of interesting. Google has, for a long time, had all these non-search products kicking around and enjoying varying levels of success. The products often have weird names and when you look at all Google offers, the screen looks like the result of a really bad brainstorming session that perhaps challenged the notion that there are no bad ideas. Google has time to develop and maintain the products because search ads are basically a huge money generating machine. Or they have money to acquire products and make them Google. Among these are Blogger (a blogging platform) and Picasa (a photo sharing site and Flickr also-ran). Yesterday we found out that Google is dumping those names and absorbing those products into Google+. So instead of Blogger and Picasa, it’ll be Google Blogs and Google Photos. The change will happen in six weeks when + goes public for everyone.
