For a while now, Google has been offering “Realtime” search results at the top of a results page based on what’s being said on Twitter. Search on “Bon Jovi”, you see what people are tweeting about Bon Jovi right then. BECAUSE APPARENTLY YOU MUST KNOW THAT. Well, it’s gone now. The arrangement between the two companies expired and was not renewed. No great loss for users, seemed kind of weird anyway. But it’s further proof that when it comes to social, Google intends to go it alone. The company says it’s working on pulling similar functionality from Google +. So Google is being social but just not with other companies.
When Google + debuted, everyone talked about it on the first day but this is a story we should all keep an eye on because as the service spreads, the implications will begin to make themselves more apparent.
