The U.S. Department of Commerce released a report Wednesday suggesting a code of conduct for companies that do business over the Internet. Analysts say that global online transactions add up to $10 trillion every year. And, there have been several high-profile hacks on big companies in recent weeks. This proposal is just a suggestion, and the code of conduce is voluntary, so I’m not sure this will make any difference. Nonetheless, recommendations include educating the public about cybersecurity threats, enhance international collaboration and develop national best practice standards for how to protect against cyberattacks.
