Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference starts on Monday and the big item will be a new service called iCloud. It’s being reported that Apple has signed deals with all the major record labels and publishers and that music storage and purchasing will be a big part of this operation. Presumably it will be a little like the cloud music services already rolled out by Amazon and Google but with improved integration into the iTunes universe that so many people already use to buy and store music. The term “iCloud” also implies that this could be about cloud storage in general, putting all your data up there. Apple has already moved to that model in their Apple TV product, ditching the machine with bigger memory for a lighter, smaller, less expensive device that’s built for streaming. Anyway, we’ll find out more details on Monday.

LA Times says the service will be free at first and then cost $25 a year later on.
