Sometimes a dollar is just a dollar. And sometimes that greenback is a work of art.
That’s what the dollar — 100,000 of them, actually — will turn into at New York’s Guggenheim Museum in a couple of weeks. The German artist Hans-Peter Feldmann will pin 100,000 dollar bills to the gallery walls.
The money is actually prize money from the Guggenheim. The museum says it’s a statement about currency as a simple every day material instead of a symbol of capitalism.
But it will revert to a symbol of capitalism after the exhibition ends. And Feldmann puts the money back into his bank account.
