They should fire whoever is in charge of network security at Sony. Then hire them back so they could fire them again. Because geez. There’s been a second hack at a Sony network, this one on the Sony Online Entertainment network. This, in the wake of the massive hack of the PlayStation Network. The bandits made off with information from some 12,700 credit cards and about 10,700 direct debit cards. The data base is from 2007 and Sony is saying it’s all old information but if that’s the case, what in the world was it doing on a server in the first place? Sony’s taking a 3-part approach to addressing this:

1) Temporarily turned off all SOE game services;
2) Engaged an outside, recognized security firm to conduct a full and complete investigation into what happened; and
3) Quickly taken steps to enhance security and strengthen our network infrastructure to provide you with greater protection of your personal information.
