The Congressmen released responses from the big telecoms yesterday in which the carriers explained their consumer data collection practices. All the phone companies said don’t worry about them, it’s the app developers that are the real problem. Rep. Barton (R-Texas) said: “While I am happy to hear that carriers inform their customers of the risks of using independent third-party applications, third-party developers can access the location of customers anytime they want.” The two have said they’ll move forward with a comprehensive investigation of this issue.
