Crackle has been around as a web service for a while and has kind of flown under the radar while Hulu and Netflix got more attention. It shows movies and TV shows with ads at the beginning and end of each and then it sprinkles some commercials in the middle. But it’s free. And now it’s available as a free app for iPad and iPhone. Crackle is offering a bunch of Seinfeld episodes (including The Puffy Shirt) as well as newish movies like The Pineapple Express.
Crackle was originally a file sharing site called Grouper. Sony acquired it in 2006 and changed the name.
