The U.S. Air Force sent the Global Hawk to Japan to collect images and help gauge the damage in Japan after the 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck last Friday and the tsunami that devastated a portion of the country. The drone can be up in the air for a 30-hour stretch of time and fly 60,000 feet above sea level. This is the same kind of drone that the Air Force just sent to fly over the U.S.-Mexican border to look for drug gangs.
