In a decision that will not come back to haunt us in any way whatsoever, some genius has decided to give robots their own version of the internet so they can learn from each other. The system, called RoboEarth, which is not a scary name evocative of a thousand science-fiction movies, lets robots upload what they’ve learned about tasks they’ve performed and ask for help from other robots for new tasks they are undertaking. Consigning all puny humans to the carbon mines, for instance. The designers of Robot Earth, who only have our best interests at heart, say that it’s a way of standardizing robot communications so that a common data base and communication network can be formed.
