Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is no fan of the recent FCC action to address concerns about net neutrality. She thinks it went way too far in asserting governmental regulatory power (remember there were plenty on the left who thought it didn’t go nearly far enough).

“Where Congress fails to lead, bureaucracy rushes in,” she said. “Here is the first opportunity for conservatives to make a stand. The free marketplace is a cornerstone of our philosophy of government.”

And Blackburn intends to do something about it. She’s vice chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and she’s on a House panel dealing with Internet regulation. Blackburn intends to introduce legislation saying the FCC “shall not propose, promulgate, or issue any regulations regarding the Internet or IP-enabled services.” She’s confident it’ll pass in the House. Probably won’t get far in the Democratic Senate, though.
