Not as important as a new iPad, I know, but we do what we can. Scientists at Cern, the nuclear research facility in Europe, are the first to have isolated antimatter particles. The particles only existed for .17 seconds but that was long enough to study them and try to figure out how to make more that could last longer. It’s believed that when the Big Bang happened, matter and antimatter were created in equal amounts but antimatter seems to have vanished since then. The scientists are being careful here because when antimatter meets matter there tends to be explosions.
