Today, in the journal Pediatrics, Swiss researchers reported the case of a 12-year old boy whose skin started showing a sponge pattern on his legs after he had his computer on his lap for a few hours every day for months. It’s called “toasted skin syndrome,” and the case of the 12-year old is one of a handful of cases in the past six years where people have developed skin conditions from the heat of their computers. If you’re going to have a hot computer on your lap for many hours, doctors recommend moving it. Or putting something between you and it. Anything to stop the hot computer from burning your skin.
