Marketplace Minute with Bill Radke 2/12
This week: eurozone woes, high-speed Google net, snow freezes business, and fallen Olympians.
And finally, here’s all the week’s business news in 60 seconds. This is the Marketplace Minute:
They widened the eurozone,
now the Greeks are in need of a loan.
If the E.U. determines
it’s up to the Germans
they’ll scream from Berlin to Cologne.
Or they could to try bill the U.K.,
who specifically warned of this day.
The Brits stood their ground
and stuck to the pound.
Should they be expected to pay?
Or maybe they’ll say to us Yanks,
“Look, you already rescued your banks —
let’s cure this virus
and bail out the Irish.”
What’s the Greek word for, “No thanks”?
Google wants to do high-speed net
a hundred times faster than what you now get.
So fast you can friend someone you haven’t met
and then download a movie that isn’t made yet.
A State Farm investigation explored
how Toyota’s malfunctions were mostly ignored.
Will shoppers reward
GM, Chrysler and Ford?
Or just move toward
the Honda Accord?
Highways were covered and water lines froze.
The snow made a million businesses close.
A million employees stayed home with their spouses
and opened their laptops and worked in their houses.
Olympic skiers sliding down fast
and losing their footing and finishing last?
Sounds like the ratings on NBC.
I’ll see you at marketplace.org.
