Marketplace Minute with Bill Radke 2/5

This week: Toyota/Prius woes, the federal deficit, iPad versus Kindle, "Lost" makes you lose time and the euro weathers Europe's debts.

Toyota is now in a panic.
The leaders are frantic,

the dealers are manic.
They’re all asking which
is the source of the glitch:
Is it electronic or is it mechanic?

They can’t control a Toyota Corolla?
They can’t guarantee us we’re safe in a Prius?
It only takes a couple mistakes
when one is the gas and the other’s the brakes.

“Lost” is back on ABC.
It’s network TV,
which means that it’s free —
except if you think of your time as money,
your financial losses? Not even funny.

The New Orleans Saints have a cheer — it’s “Who Dat?”
The NFL said they own it — true dat!
The fans disagreed — I don’t have to tell you dat.
Maybe a copyright judge will review dat.

The deficit’s over a trillion dollars
and rising, according to budget scholars.

The iPad is having a fight with the Kindle
and making the margins at Amazon dwindle.

Europe’s in debt and it’s slamming the euro,
says Stephen Beard in our London bureau.

Stephen is wonderful, don’t you agree?
I’ll see you at Marketplace.org.
