MARK AUSTIN THOMAS: Alright already!! Microsoft announces yet another product delay. Marketplace’s Stacey Vanek-Smith has an explanation.
STACEY VANEK-SMITH: The release of Microsoft’s new Office software, which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs, has been pushed back a couple of months.
That might not sound so bad, but this is the second time Office has been postponed and comes on the heels of myriad delays for Microsoft’s long-anticipated operating system, Vista.
Tech analyst Tim Bajaharin with Creative Strategies says this is probably a practical move. Office’s release should now coincide with Vista’s. Still, he says, the company needs to get moving.
TIM BAJAHARIN: Ultimately both of these products will get to market and they’ll be big hits. But at this stage of the game, they gotta crack down and work harder to get the bugs out and get these things ready as quick as possible.
Especially considering the two products account for more than half of Microsoft’s revenue.
I’m Stacey Vanek-Smith for Marketplace.
